Technology “Do Not Do” List
Protect Crosspoint systems, data, and people by clearly outlining actions that are not acceptable.
1. Do Not Share Passwords
Passwords are personal credentials and must never be shared—verbally, in writing, or digitally. This includes coworkers, volunteers, or external partners.
2. Do Not Store Church Files Only on Your Desktop
Local storage is not secure or backed up. All church-related files must be stored in approved systems like OneDrive or SharePoint to ensure access, security, and continuity.
3. Do Not Use Unapproved Payment Applications
Apps such as Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, or similar platforms must not be used for church transactions unless explicitly approved. Financial activity must follow established financial controls and systems.
4. Do Not Send Confidential Data Casually
Sensitive information (staff data, financial details, member information, etc.) must never be sent without proper safeguards. Always use approved, secure methods and confirm the recipient.
5. Do Not Grant System Access Without Approval
Access to systems, files, or platforms must go through the proper approval process. Never add users or share permissions outside of established protocols.
6. Do Not Ignore Suspicious Emails or Activity
If something feels off—unexpected login alerts, phishing emails, strange links—do not engage. Report it immediately to it@crosspoint.church.
Bottom Line
If you are unsure—pause and ask. A quick check with IT can prevent significant issues.
