Use of Personal Devices for Work

Overview At times, employees may need to access Crosspoint systems using a personal device (phone, tablet, or computer). While this is permitted when necessary, it must be done in a way that protects church data, systems, and confidentiality.

When Personal Devices May Be Used

Personal devices may be used for:

  • Accessing email (Outlook)
  • Viewing or editing documents in OneDrive or SharePoint
  • Attending Microsoft Teams meetings
  • Urgent or remote work situations when a church-issued device is not available

Requirements for Use

When using a personal device, the following expectations apply:

  • Only approved systems may be used (Microsoft 365: Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) must be enabled
  • Devices should be protected with a passcode, password, or biometric lock
  • Public or shared computers should not be used to access sensitive information
  • Files must not be downloaded and stored locally on personal devices

What Is Not Permitted

  • Storing Crosspoint files permanently on personal devices
  • Using personal email accounts for church business
  • Transferring files to unapproved platforms (Dropbox, Google Drive, iCloud, etc.)
  • Sharing devices with others while logged into Crosspoint systems

Separation or Device Change

At the time of role change or separation:

  • Access to all systems will be removed
  • Any locally stored data related to Crosspoint must be deleted immediately
