What Should Not Be Stored Locally
To protect the integrity, security, and accessibility of Crosspoint Church data, employees should not store files locally on their computers (desktop, downloads folder, or hard drive).
What Should Not Be Stored Locally
- Ministry documents, reports, or operational files
- Financial information or budget documents
- Member or donor data
- Emails or attachments containing sensitive information
- Any document that is needed for team access or future reference
Why This Matters
Storing files locally creates risk:
- Data loss if a device is damaged, lost, or replaced
- Security exposure if a device is compromised
- Lack of access for team members who need the information
- No backup or version control, limiting recovery options
Approved Storage Standard
All files should be stored in Microsoft OneDrive or SharePoint, which are provided and managed by Crosspoint Church.
These platforms ensure:
- Secure, backed-up storage
- Controlled access and permissions
- File version history and recovery
- Accessibility from any approved device
Important Guidance
- Do not rely on personal storage platforms such as iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, or external USB drives for church-related work
- Files may be temporarily downloaded for active use, but should be saved back to OneDrive immediately
- If you are unsure where to store a file, default to OneDrive or contact IT
Bottom Line
If it matters to the organization, it belongs in OneDrive—not on your computer.
